Are there other fish in the tank?
Your fish may be getting attacked.

If you have other fish in the tank they will attack each other, Before putting other fish in tanks together check with a pet store and make sure u tell what kind of fish can be put in with your fish. Be glad your fish lived. Sometimes they can get there tails stuck in the thing that cleans the tank. It has happened to my fish. Did any of your other fish have that happen? Well I hope this helped a little.

Was she on her own in the tank? Is there something that couldhave attacked her? Have you recently done a water change and not used a dechlorinator? Are you using any chemicals to clean the tank and not rinsed them away properly?

One of your other fish attacked her. You got to ask the pet store about which fish get along with each other before you buy.

It woulb be fungal infection... Try adding some crystal salt in the tank(Note do not add processed salt). Also maintain the temp... It should be alright....

Salt does not cure fungal infections, it only inhibits it from starting. You will need some medication from the LFS to cure it. They can reccommend what to use for a fungus, if that's what it is.
