* kagome means " woven bamboo pattern " it seems that the name came from the princibles of yin and yang,but because she writes her name in hiragaga rather than kanji it is difficult to discern.higurashi has no apparent translation.

* Well from many websites I have heard that Kagome is a little kids song in Japanesse and that Kagome doesn't really mean anything it is just a word they used in the song.That's what I've HEARD!I don't KNOW for sure!

* Again, as you might hear in the "What does the name Inuyasha mean in Japanese?" question that I checked on Babel Fish again and Kagome said it just meant Kagome. Doing some further research on Ask Jeeves (URL: www.ask.com) I found that "Kagome" meant "woven bamboo pattern".

"Inuyasha," the name of the main character, roughly translates to "dog demon." "Inu" means "dog" - the exact meaning of "yasha" is a topic of debate, but is generally accepted to refer to a supernatural creature like a demon.

Kagome's name is written only in hiragana, the Japanese phonetic alphabet; since there are no kanji assigned to it, it does not actually carry its own meaning. However, it sounds like a word referring to a woven bamboo pattern. "Kagome" is also a nonsense sound featured prominently in a children's song.
