I really dont want to purchase another tank, but there are too many fry in my small fry trap container. How old should they be until i can release them with the adults? I am worried that they might get eaten, because i have already witnessed about 5 fry getting eaten by their mothers and it was too late to do anything. so how old should they be?

I have a 10 gallon tank with guppies. Lately there has been alot, like 40 or 50 fry. I have maybe 3 females and 4 males. They don't get eaten, anymore. They have in the past but not anymore, I don't know why. I would get alot of plants so the fry can hide. They'll feel much better in an open territory. Some might get eaten. How many adult guppys do you have? I have to get another tank for my fry. They are so cute! They learn how to dart arounf to avoid being a snack.

I would say not until they are big enough not to fit in the adults mouth. Another thing would to get a bigger fry tank for them.

Overfeed the fish *slightly*. A well fed mother is less likely to eat the babies. In my experience the only real bastards when it comes to baby guppies getting eaten is Angelfish.

wait about one more month to make sure they are old enough go to pet smart and you can get a 11 dollar tank (10g) put them in there just to be safe and then u can use that tank for a hospital tank in the future just a suggestion
GOOD LUCK!!!!!
