When I was in college (many years ago), many of my friends would go to Alaska over the summer and work in the fish canneries and make tons of money (at least it was tons of money for a 18-23 year old at the time...I can only assume it s the same now)! I loved delivering pizza in college. Why? Tips, of course ... I always had cash in my pocket.
Plus I was in my car - listening to the radio and not stuck inside a restaurant somewhere.

Have you tried work study? You could possibly work for Professors within your major.
