Common? Yeah, it can be...mainly because everyone is picking running backs first because of the points they get in fantasy league.
Tatum Bell looks like he might be either on the bench or traded pretty soon.

Sure it just depends on the structur of your league. If your league is setup where QB TD's are worth 6 points then yes its a good pick. Some leagues even reward points for completions. But for the most part in a regular league it is unwise to take Peyton that early, but not uncommon.
Tatum Bell's value has diminished in recent weeks with the promotion of MIke Bell. It is gonna end up being a RB by committee deal like last year with him and MIke Anderson. I would stay away from Tatum Bell. Unless you can get him later in the draft (which won't happen)

It could be common for Peyton to go at 7. Whether that's a good choice or not is a different story. Don't do it, if that's what you're thinking. Let someone else take him while you load up on RBs.
Tatum Bell is falling out of favor fast in Denver. Again, let someone else take him.

most fantasy owners go by the 2 stud RB theory. So the top 6 RBs are always gonna go before Manning. Peyton puts up #'s that warrant a 1st round choice. So he normally falls to 7-8. Before Culpepper got hurt he would be right after Manning at #8 on most draft boards

It all depends on the structure of your league. In my league, where we have 12 teams and it is possible to start 3 RBs, that is too high, since it is better to have 3 solid RBs and a Matt Hasselbeck type than Manning and only 2 RBs. But, the less people in your league and the less RBs you can start, the more valuable Manning becomes.

Look at his numbers. He scores TONS of point and therefore warrants a high draft pick. Bell is a great 2nd rounder in a non keeper league and a good 1st rounder in a keeper league. His production will increase this year. He is at the top of my draft list this year (2 keeper league) provided he is not kept.

I don't see how it could be considering how much he throws the ball. Too many people will end up putting stock in rookies like Bush and Young...only to fall victim to injuries....
