I thought about being a sociology major before I decided on doing English and Political Science. The good things about a sociology major include: it enables you to understand other cultures and people, it gives you a good research background, it forces you to be analytical and objective when observing other people's actions, and it's really a fascinating topic. The downsides include: with a sociology degree, you will most likely end up with a career in research and/or teaching. Think about if you want that. Of course, if you are interested in sociology, take classes in it, but other analytical fields, such as psychology, would probably be more useful.
