I think that part of the plan for the invasion would have had to involve a plan to reincorporate the people coming back from war into society.

Given the way the Iraq issue has been handled, the lack of planning and so on, I seriously doubt that any provisions made for the reinsertion of returning soldiers into the society are adequate.

These people have seen and in some cases done things most of us would never experience, or even imagine. It's one thing seeing something on TV, it's something else living it, seeing it with your own eyes, hearing the screams, smelling the blood, the burning... It's even worse when you are close to the source of it...

Families of returning soldiers will definitely help, so will veterans associations, but I doubt this will be enough. Specialised care is necessary.

I do think we are ready to receive our so called "insane" soldiers back from Iraq! And when they do come home I think that each one of them should get social security. Because there are so many damn people in this country that sit on their butt all day long with no problems at all and say that they are mentally insane and cannot work! Give me a break. Our country does so much for the people who do nothing and I think when this war is over our "insane" soldiers should be treated like Kings and Queens!! And if they do seem insane just remember what they have gone through!

They are, after all, Americans and probably related to some of us.. We will receive them no matter the issues just as we did those from Viet Nam and every other war. My son was in the Air Force for 10 years and now is a reservist. If he is called to go - guess what - he's my blood and if anything happens to him - he's still my son. If he gets hurt - he still has his family and the Veterans Administration to assist him. Just because an American soldier goes to Irag does not mean he must go somewhere else if he has mental issues. There are tons of 'crazy' people in America and most of them never went to war......

I disagree most profoundly with the politicians (Bush and Blair) invading Iraq. But don't question the bravery and duty of the majority of soldiers who are paid very poorly to do their duty and put their lives on the line daily to serve their countries. If I'd seen a quarter of what the average soldier must see, I think I'd go mad too.
