According to Dick Clark and American Bandstand's Rate A Record. The lowest possible score you could receive was a 40 and both judges gave David Seville and the Chimpmunks a score of 40. So I guess, according to American Bandstand, the worst record to become a hit was "A Chimpmunk Christmas".

Seasons in the Sun by Terry Jacks - the biggest, sappiest song there ever was - man I still can't get the sound out of my ears.
Oh, lets not forget Heartbeat by Don Johnson - there should be criminal punishment for that travesty!
And Paris Hilton - Stars are Blind, or Turn it Up - what an utter piece of garbage that song of hers is - I don't think any producer actually listened to a note of that song before greenlighting it.

YEARS ago, a buddy of mine tracked an album for me that was THE worst ever. Lorne Greene (Pa from the Ponderosa) doing beat poems over quirky, cornball trancendental music.
