latest tomb raider on ps2 - is there any way to avoid doing those end-of-level baddies?

i can't get past that bit where you have to shoot the platforms, then pull them down while trying not to get creamed by the dude

you've got to shoot him, (jump about like mad to avoid the greandes he throws) and wait until he jumps up onto a platform to heal himself, then target the ruby. Shoot it and by this time he'll have hopped down. Shoot him until he hopes up and then use the grapple. Just do this for all four.

There's no way to avoid the end of level bosses, It's all about trail and error. Took me a long time to finish the game.

In short, no.
You have to keep keep keep on trying, look for the boss' weak points/moments, hone your technique...
It'll feel good when you finally crack it.
