Not even the county court house keeps records that long. Best you can do is call the previous owner and ask them for who they got the car from and so on... Chain of ownership will be hard to piece history... tough luck.

Your only real options are:

1 - County or state records, and good luck getting them that far back.

2 - Carfax. I'm not sure how far back they go, but you'll be able to find a LOT of information from them.

3 - Ask the seller. While not reliable or guaranteed, you can at least get an idea of who might have previously owned the car.

It should be on the title when it was transferred to you... unless a dealership owned it. (then they would be the "previous owner")
