I was brought up in the UK and went out loads on my dads bike (Royal Einfields, BSA and a Triumph) and I can remember all bikers giving a casual wave.

This doesn't seem to happen anymore with all these idiots on their plastic missles and matching leathers!

Because of basic rudeness. the way I was brought up by my dad who's been riding for like 40 years you wave to anyone on a bike, kinda a brotherhood of the 2 wheel bandits.. Now people don't realize that everyone on 2 wheels faces the same dangers no matter crotch rocket, Harley or dirt bike. I still wave, even if they don't.

I wave at all we are a big brotherhood whether you wave or not. But when the time come there there. Like the other day i was riding my 1980 Honda CB 750 custom and i ran out of gas. Well i called my wife and had gas coming not one car stopped at all to see why i was sitting on the side of the road. But every biker and i do mean every biker rocket or HD stopped to see if i need help. That to me says New age biker or Old School biker whether they wave or not when it comes down to it we are all there for each other. I have been riding for 15yrs and this has always been the one thing that i have known over the years. NEVER leave a fellow biker stranded

I see just as many harley guys refusing to wave at us sport bikers...I usually wave most of the time, except towards the end of a long day of riding....then I'm tired and just don't feel like it. And sometimes....on curvy roads I'm too interested in keeping my plastic missle from getting wadded up to notice the other guys coming by, I would rather be a little rude than pitch my ride. Maybe it depends upon where you are...I'm in the south and most people still wave here.

Most people wave, where I live. Farmers even wave at bikes from their trucks and tractors. We consider waving as being neighborly and not "gay", or some bullsh!t like that.

Sport bikers often nod or make a short wave from the grip, because of their riding position. Too, they are not used to cruisers, or tourers, waving at them. Some motorcycle "owners" are just godless yuppies who have substituted a status bike for a status car and are not really "bikers".

Hmm.. I ride a sport bike and I wave to everyone: sportbikes, cruisers, motards, etc. I always get a wave back from everybody as well.

We are all the same really, we share the same passion for an open road and two wheels..
I don't know why some people chose not to wave.

I get a lot of older bikers that dont wave at me either, buy mostly young bikers on rockets. I'm a young rider but i wave all the time, and i have since i rode with my dad when i was in 1st grade.

I wave to everyone if I'm just cruising and not in heavy traffic using the clutch etc.

only people I've had not wave back have been a few harley riders. I'm guessing they are the type of harley riders that hate sportbikes?

personaly I love all kinds of bikes, harleys, choppers, sportbikes, trials bikes, dirtbikes, anything on two wheels really.

A lot more traffic now days and a lot more idiot drivers on the road so I think they are too busy just trying to stay alive while they ride. Waving isn't an obligation and sometimes the ones that do wave only use one finger and that ain't nice!!

Lack of biker manners! The same with the lack of courtesy in all fields, people are just always in a hurry and lack trust in fellow mankind.
