My parents have 1000's upon 1,000's of slides, the slide projector is going bad. It cost about 50 cents or more to have a slide made into a picture. Transfering them to video via a professional is to expensive

Yeah, my $90 scanner has an attachment for slides. I'm sure you can find one online or in a store. It would take a while to scan 1000's of slides, but it would force you to weed out the best ones and "just let go" of the less desirable ones. (in other words, toss the crappy ones.) After you scan them most scanners come with slide show software, similar to PowerPoint, that you can save as jpeg's to CD or DVD. Then most DVD players can also play jpeg CD's.

my scanner came with a slide attachment, so there out there......but consider and research the ida of sending them off to a company that will put them on a dvd or cd for u.....

My parent's have a scanner that will scan negatives and/or slides.

I believe there is computer hardware to do this. Check out any electronics store and ask around.
