If you are in California its hard, if you are out of California its even harder. You have to understand that the amount of transfers applying to UC Berkeley is huge and the amount of spots so few that the competition is incredible. Keep in mind that well over half of those incoming transfers have guaranteed admission becauce of agreements through their CCs, which makes the task for those without the agreement nearly impossible. As an example, this past year UCLA didn't accept a single transfer that didn't have the guaranteed admission agreement because they were already obligated to admit more transfers than they had spots. The competition at Berkeley is not much different.

CCs in the bay area will more than likely have a transfer agreement with Berkeley

well i know that CA community college students have first priority to UCs when transfering. and the acceptance rate for transfers at berkeley is about 11-20%. Not exactly the best chances but definitely not impossible. And as for psychology, it is indeed an impacted major. you might want to declare something less impacted then later change to a psych major.

well, it's kinda impossible if you're transferring from out-of-state (i think nearly 1%, my friend got 4.0/4.0 in CC in WA and satisfied all of the requirements but she still didn't get accepted). However, if you transfer from a California CC, high GPA is the key but it's not enough, you also need some hooks(scholarships, awards, etc.) and/or extracurricular activities such as community services, leaderships, etc. Personal essay is also another important thing to be considered! and your own luck!

my friends said that it is easier to transfer to berkeley from CCs. As far as i know, psy in berkeley is an impacted major (meaning that there is more students wanna major in psy than there are available spots)
