Yeah, every day, but...
--money is always an issue. Seems like only rich folks can afford to take a vacation or a sabbatical these days, and they're too busy making sure *all of civilization* is ruined for the poorest 80% or so of the population to let any of us catch a break, don't you know? ;)
--the whole planet seems to be on the edge of a cliff lately, not just the United States. Even Austrailia has its problems with immigration and such....so where *would* you go? With me, it's a tie, since either way, it would be a working "vacation" and either way I'd have to learn a new language and a new culture....only question is, whether it's Japanese for Japan or Spanish for Venezuela...so yeah, both of those options rather stink....and I don't think just moving to Vancouver and learning to be a full-contact karate person would be enough (though I hear the Oyama Karate scene there is HUGE).
--some problems you just can't run away from, nor should you: kids, mood disorders, lonliness, your debts....there are some things an *adult* in a civilized society has to stand firm on and take care of. These will vary from one person to the next but yeah, just running away and leaving it all isn't good, for you or for civilization long-term....
Just saying.

I've done it. Well, not Australia but I packed my bags and left for Africa for good. I visit my home country as a tourist now, and my life is much better than before. No, I did not run away from trouble, I just like Africa better and decided one day that I needed to live there.
Your situation sounds different: walking away from 'it all' sounds bad if you're not heading to a better place you already know

Sure... but after thinking it over, geography usually has very little to do with the thought of "walking away from it all." The same types of problems, types of ill-bred, harassing people, and government issues would probably crop up again, even in another country. So, I choose to stick it out where I'm at.

Sure, everyone gets that feeling now and then, but, only the perseverance of most people keeps them going and dealing with what they have to deal with everyday.
When I get to feeling that way the most, I just open up Doom3 and start killing mutants... Much more acceptable than the alternative.. LOL

Only about a dozen times per day. Then again, I remind myself that the grass is always greener & besides, who can afford to pack up and move in the first place?
Hang in there!

If I had any money, yeah. Instead, I just pretend not to exist on a daily basis, that seems to work just fine.
