She is 18 and moved in with a guy she met who is 25 yrs old, still married and has a 3 yr old child. This all happened the same week she graduated high school. She called me this AM and asked for her insurance card to go to the doctor because she says she cannot sleep at nite and wants a sleeping pill. I went to where she lives and gave her the card and noticed cut marks on her forearms. She is back to self mutilating. I am not sure what is going on. She has a history of self mutilation and a hx of manipulation to get what she wants and I am not sure which this is because she does not live with me. I suspect since the cuts are very superficial, she may be doing it to manipulate her 25 yr old boyfriend. She has had extensive counseling and the therapist has informed me this self mutilation may be manipulation for attention.
So, I took her the insurance card. Do I just forget this or what? I finally lost it totally and told her how disappointed I was and implored her to get home

sorry your going through this i did it for years with my daughter and they do it to get there way and for someone to feel sorry for them all you can do is have her put away and let her get the help she needs and get her away from that guy he has a kid that needs him she needs to find someone who can give her all she needs and a man with kids is not what she needs .

you can email me and i will talk to you that way if you would like to talk more but i don't like many people knowing my life nor my kids .

Really the only thing you can do is ask her to go back to therapy, and offer to pay for it, as I'm sure they do not have the money at that young an age..(or she wouldn't have needed the insurance card). Your only other option would be to have her put away till she gets better. You could even have the doctor report his findings, and the courts would order her to go.
I wish you luck...keep us posted of the outcome
