2002 Harley Custom 1200 Sportster. House of Kolors paint job about 2 years old. I think I overfilled the gas tank last time and the bike was sitting for about 7 weeks while my kids were here for the summer. Just looking someway to fix the bubbling, around 4 small bubbles just circling the gas tank opening.

That sounds like the gas caused a reaction with the paint. I have seen this before with House of Kolor and PPG paint. It's the clear coat which is messed up.

You could take it off and have someone reclear coat it.

Gasoline shouldn't cause that kind of reaction to a two-year-old paint job. Most likely the tank was not primed properly around the filler neck before the paint was applied, and you've got some rust bubbling up under the paint.

There's not much you can do to save it once that kind of corrosion starts, but to keep the rust from spreading to the rest of the paint job, you should mask off, strip and repaint the area around the filler neck. You probably won't be able to match the original paint, but you could put on one of those leather gas tank bibs to cover up the repaired paint...

The prep work on the metal around the filler was not done correctly. There is no perfect fix other than to strip it off and start over. You can consider a cosmetic coverup but fixing that will mean taking off the existing paint. What a shame. A custom job screwed up by a simple lack of prep work. Like a Da Vinci painted on cheap paper.

Clear fingernail polish sometimes works.
