I personally like music I can understand and listen to. How does anyone understand rap music, don't get me wrong some is ok, but most of it is all jumbled. Hard to understand and unless you have a sheet with the words almost impossible to listen and sing with.

The trick is to find a group you like, and listen to them. 2-Pac and Digital Underground are really easy to understand, so I listen to them. If you don't like the songs or groups, don't listen to them.

I have eclectic tastes and I tend to listen to music of all genres. Rap music is no different than other genres - some songs are easy to understand, others are hard.

For example, I adore the Barenaked Ladies - their song "One Week" was very difficult for many people to understand because they were speaking so fast.

It's not just rap music.

I can make out every word in a rap song. People like the music that applies to them.

Some rappers articulate better then others. Some stories are understandable. The music usually hooks me, because I don't always know what the heck they are saying either, but I'm an old head, I'm not supposed to. It's not for everyone.

Well. You need to have rythme for one. 95% of us who listen to rap is either living that life so everything they say relates so we feal where they are comin' from. The other 5% are wanna be's and just sing the corusis.......But its not just one sided everyone who is out here in the street cant relate to every song. Drug dealers and hustlers listen to rap songs about it. and bangers, jackers, killers, thugs, and gangsta's listen to song about what They do. So it depends on what style or status you are.

Rap isn't music first of all. Just because it has a 'beat' and sombody 'rappin' doesn't make it music.
Ask any 'real' musician about 'rap'. See how they answer this question.

I listen to the same song repeatedly, and as time goes on, I sing with the downbeat of the music... then one day, I know the whole song :D
