IT'S NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF EACH COUNTRY'S SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS. IF THE US DECIDES TO DO THIS, THEY HAVE NOTHING TO GAIN AND WOULD BE AT MORE OF A LOSS. WHERE AS OTHER COUNTRIES WOULD HAVE ALOT TO GAIN BECAUSE THEIR STATUS WOULD GO UP.

They should, but it won't happen. America has to many divisions for it to be able to carry one common monetary system.
I predict that with the Euro will be the currency that will replace the dollar at a global level. It will gain more value than the dollar.

i think it's the only way to keep up with the growing power of the euro, but the US will never agree to merge currencies--the current administration enjoys too much power to control markets under our current system. at this point it would be too complex to integrate economics with canada and mexico (especially mexico which carries an enormous amount of debt--would basiclally create extreme hardship for most of its citizens). currency is based on holdings of gold and historic balances against the national debt, which is disparately different between various north american countries.
