At the end of the summer, when the growing period has finished, although i moved my Rosemary bush a few weeks ago and it is doing really well, cuttings can be taken at any time, i have taken many over the summer and they are just fine, just make sure you don't put them out now as the summer is almost over, they will need to be kept in until the next spring starts, if you have a conservatory and a propigator you have a better chance of them surviving through until the next spring

Move shrubs a reasonable guide is any month with an R in it,
Cuttings are generally best in early Spring always plant close to the pot edge and depending on the size of the pot plant 6-8/pot
using a root growth powder incidentally Sept /October is the best time to spray weedkiller on stubborn plants for the same reason that the plant is taking food to the roots

About now would be a good time to take cuttings from bushes and the like to grow indoors during the fall and winter months.

Butterfly bushes, camillia, gardenia, sweet (tea) olive are all good to do now. I did them last year about this time and they did well indoors. I just planted the Butterfly bushes, but the other plants will have to survive one more winter indoors until they're big enough to be transplanted into my garden.

many plants are moved at different times but usually when they,re dormant and the ground/soil is wet cutting,s are a little bit more complicated because u get hard/soft/leaf/root/stem and many more so you better get a book .
