For 2.6 you will not need to downgrade but will need GTA LCS.

as far as i know you cannot downgrade 2.6 or play homebrew games at all

The exploit uses Edison carters cheat device in LCS so yes you need it. There is some homebrew on 2.60 but very VERY littel of it and not iso's (illegal games, these NEED 1.50)
