As everyone noted it is a yeast infection in the mouth. My daughter refused the medication when she had it so i fed her yogurt a few times a day and it went away on its own. The enzymes in the yogurt killed the thrush bacteria.

Someone above me said they used Nystatin and that scares me, because i just used that on my daughter externally becaues due to an allergic reaction to Luvs diapers she got a yeast infection in her nether regions... and the cream said for external use only. I only hope the form this person used was an oral form of the same meds.

Several different ways. Thrush is a yeast infection. It is exactly the same thing as a vaginal yeast infection except in a different place. If they have a yeast infection in their diaper they can scratch at it and transfer it to their mouth. If you are breastfeeding you can transfer it to your breasts on your bathroom towel or get it from your baby's thrush, or you can give it to your baby from your breasts. My baby took an oral steroid twice daily thru an inhaler (Flovent). If we did not get her mouth rinsed out it could lead to thrush...and it did once. Then she gave it to my breasts (OUCH!!!). We both had to go on yeast medicine at the same time to keep from reinfecting each other.

well, thrush is basically a "yeast" infection of the mouth. It can be caused by antibiotics...not just ones the baby is taking but anything the mother is taking also (if breast feeding). It can also be transfered by saliva (kissing) and sharing things like cups, spoons, forks, etc with someone who has thrush.

It's a yeast infection as stated above. You need medications from the doctor to clear it up, obviously. You should be a bit more vigilant with sterilization of passies, bottles, teething rings or anything else your child puts in their mouth on a regular basis.

It is a yeast infection. You can get a prescription or you can scrub their mouth and tongue with a solution of half water and half white vinegar three times a day. use a very soft tooth brush or gum brush. You can also wash your nipples with this.
