Ok, I have a Netgear wireless router. I am going to set it up to my laptop so do I need to put the set up disk in my laptop or my desk top? I am so confused. I hope this question is clear enough to understand and thank you in advance.

Generally speaking, wireless routers should only be altered by a computer OVER A WIRED CONNECTION. This is because most changes to the router's settings require a system reboot, which temporarily disconnects you. So I would recommend putting the setup disk in your desktop (and connecting with an ethernet cable to the router, rather than wirelessly)...you can later on connect to it wirelessly.

YOu're setting the router up to your laptop? If you are doing that, then just put the disk in the laptop.

Maybe you want to re-think that. I'd set it up with the desktop or just to the modem.

Use the laptop. The disk basically walks you through configuring the router, that's all.

To setup a netgear wireless router, you don't need to put the setup disk, that disk is for your instruction, if you don't know how to install the netgear wireless router, you should put that disk in and follow the instruction it gives you on the CD.
