Tesco actually pay quite above the minimum wage! I often wonder how a middle aged person ends up on a checkout or working in McDonalds but maybe they are happy with their lot, maybe they have had sucsessful careers and want a stress free job. I worked in a call centre amongst ex policemen forced to retire from the force early but fancied trying something different.
I guess what I'm saying is don't take it at face value, there might be a number of reasons that you don't know about.
On another note, my partner left school at 15 with no qualifications and severe dyslexia and is now earning 30k+ a year as a self employed tradesman. He likes nothing better than having someone that used to look down their nose at him cos they got straight A's in their exams serve him in Tesco!

Glad you notice,
I guess ive never reallyed looked at the job as being uneducated, and im only telling you this , well I fell for this boy working at one of those supermarket, and the one good thing about him is he that he does work very hard, which is a good thing to have, and he was always happy to me and I liked that in a man working hard, I guess at some point he did show me his uneducated nature, although most workers, do work for education , to have money, and I have tried myself but didnt get the job, but was working somewhere just for the money, like maling and so on ,
Some people like what they do , not everyone wants to be educated or belong to an educated family, I did say the same once like you, but realise it , by talking to people , that some people just enjoy what they do, I mean , Ive got good qualifcations and experience to land a good decent job , but no one would expect me , what can I do if I need money so quickly maybe in a store ,
and one thing in every job you do need some sort of experience and education, the workers at tesco ,be honest they still look like they have experience or knowledge of the work they doing

Oh dear you obviously know nothing about real life do you, do you ever talk to any of those poor unfortunate uneducated people that work in the supermarkets, if you came down of your high horse you would find a lot of the younger end working at Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and even Morrison's are actually in full time education and work in the supermarket to fund their way through university and college, with the cost of university education today they have to do what ever work they can and if its in a supermarket then good luck to them, hope you never get made redundant and the only job on offer is stacking shelves, bet you wouldn't take it would you, no the state would have to keep you.

Just b'cos they work in a supermarket does'nt mean they didnt do well at school some people do it whilst studying or maybe it's because they have a family my friend wrks @ asda part time (she as lots of a levels and a degree) her husband has a good job and she doesnt need to work but she does it while her kids are at school so she has extra money for holidays and nice things. it can lead on to good things to start at the bottom and wrk ya way up to the top!
someone has to work there or there afterall!
it doesnt make you a better person for having a higher education a lot of people that earn lots and lots of money seem to be up there own backsides and are never happy with what they have got
no matter what at least they work and don't sit on there back side at home all day!

I don't feel bad for people.
Somebody has to work at that job to provide the services that company offers, so we as consumers can reap those benefits. It's all a fine line between how much consumers will pay for the products Tesco's offers, how much Tesco's can pay people, etc. If those employees all suddenly got degrees in some other market, Tesco's wouldn't be able to sell any products. And if all people who worked in national chains stopped working because they all found a better job, life as we know it would shut down. And that's how it is for any service we take for granted. So no, I don't feel bad for them because no matter how much the high schools drive it into you... we can't all be 'working' in the office like I am.

I used to work at Tesco. I have a perfectly good education. However, I wanted a part-time job so that I could be with my children. Tesco suited me because it was close to my home, the hours fitted in with my lifeplan and I spent time with other people.
Believe it or not, secretarial work is even more boring.
Anyway, who would stack the shelves? Clean the stores? You? I think not. You're too educated and intelligent for that.

I think that most folks dont like their job - no matter how much they earn. Some dont want much and are happy with what they
have. Some just dont want to put out the effort to make more.
Some just dont have any idea of what they would like to do.
Some are not capable of doing better. Some are just miserable
human beings and just whine about what the world owes them.
Some of my happiest times were when I had less materially,
but more fun.
By the way - I have no idea what Tesco's is.

I think people should not jump into a conclusion that people who work at Tesco means they didn't try hard enough at school, because people might have just been forced into a situation where they need to start working young to provide for the family.

Well... everyone you see working at minimum wage jobs won't be doing so the rest of their lives. Alot of times, we graduate from college and forget that WE were once the part-time, unsatisfied employee working at the dead-end job trying to pay for college. So, I look at it like this, if working there was once okay for you (because you had to do it) then noone can judge anyone else for doing it (because they have to-- for whatever reasons). Who are we to go around saying, "well, he looks like he's in college, so he's okay. Or, "she looks 40 with 5 kids, so I'll turn my nose up at her." Or, maybe you were fortunate enough to not have to work these type places, therefore you may have no empathy.
