Depending on the angle of the moon to the sun, the edge of the shadow (called the terminator, no Arnie jokes please) will intersect the many craters on the moon's surface which can be enough to distort the line we see.

Check out the latest press stories in India and China. Apparently we have been visited by aliens for many years and they have made themselves known to all the governments of the world. We are due a visitation by an intergalatic league of nations who are setting up camp on the moon, hence the sudden cessation of moon exploration by NASA, they and other nations who planned to go the moon were told not to. The shadow is probably their camp, obviously growing in size as more and more representatives of other planets join the delegation!

Darren R. is correct.
To answer chapers question about the moon looking "closer"/bigger it is because it is appearing lower in the evening sky as it and the sun move southward along the ecliptic as we head into fall and winter. When the moon is closer to the horizon it looks bigger to the human brain, but its actual angular size is no different.
The "moon illusion" is what the phenomenon is called and is a whole 'nother subject for discussion.

one question i want to ask you is that do you live in the uae?
if we look to this scientifically i would say that its not the moon's problem its the problem with the atmosphere and there might be a possibility with the problem of your eye vision. now about the atmosphere may be a slight dust storm might have just got overthat's one possibility and the other might your vision problem.
if there is any thing mysterious you observe about the moon again just e-mail that to me because i love studying about the universe.

I don't know, sorry. But I have perceived the Moon as being closer more recently. Why is this?
