Fruits Basket, or Furuba has always been the top selling english manga and it is even ranked #29 on USA Today's Booklist for the week ending August 6, 2006. Is this reasonable and do you think it deserves the reputation among other mangas?

Fruits Basket, in my opinion, is NOT over-rated, but Tokyopop takes so long to release each volume that I've lost 99.9% of my interest in it...
Compared to mangas like Petshop of Horrors, DN Angel, and Hellsing, however, Fruits Basket does not put up a fair fight to me, and it does not deserve its reputation. This is simply because A) the anime was WRETCHEDLY bad, B) the art style never stays the same throughout the entire series, and C) as I've mentioned before, Tokyopop takes too long releasing the volumes, and interest is being lost...
If there's any manga that deserves the reputation of Fruits Basket (or Furuba, as the fans call it), I say it's Hellsing or Petshop of Horrors... But this is my opinion, so it may not matter anyway...

I like Fruits Basket, but I think it gets too much hype. The plot has been done before, and the only charactar that really has a huge fanbase seems to be Kyo. But I love Kyo so *shrugs*

I like fruit basket. Nut yes, i think its a little overrated. I think other mangas are just as good and they dont get the same hype.

I think it deserves the reputation. I mean, it's very unique with the zodiacs. The characters are well drawn. The plot is cute yet kind of deep. In conclusion, it should be the best!!

Hmm... I never r eally thought about it that way. I think most of those book are overrated and yeah i guess it is overrated. But i just try to ignore it and read along...

Furuba is girly and cute. What can you expect. It's gonna be bubbly and angsty.
I like it. Kyo is adorable.

yes..why not? the manga or anime is very funny....where can u get an anime mix with supercomedy/drama...beside many people really like it so...you can't change reality...lol
