everytime i restart my computer and press F10 or w/e the button is it wont let me change the settings because i dont have a password for it. i have been the only owner and i dont remember ever putting a password up for that.. because i wanted to start my computer in safe mode but i couldnt get into the settings. thanks for the help.

That seems to be the BIOS password, you need to check the motherboard manual and look for a jumper to clear the CMOS to remove it, just move the jumper to the clear position and move it back......To get into the safe mode, you need to press F8 after restarting the PC, try pressing it a couple of times after you get the message to press Delete or F10 to get into setup and you'll get the option to start windows in safe mode

If you are talking BIOS, that is a whole lot different than Windows itself. It would have a different password. You need to check your owners manual, there is usually a jumper on the motherboard itself that will clear that. If not you have to remove the CMOS battery. Either case, you will need to enter in all the settings again, it wipes out everything (not the hard drive though, it has nothing to do with Windows or other files)
