I think it depends on the Ice surface. Canada looked crappy on Olympic Ice in Turin(debatable selections no excuse). But on a NHL rink they would smoke anyone.
The Swedes were solid (Gold eh) but I think Russia can ice the team right now with the most talent up front with Malkin looking like a supastar in the making. Ovechkin and Kovalchuk (idiot). Yikes!

Canada-Russia. not USA. every player in the NHL is either canadian , russian, or from finland or czech republic. once in a while there is an american but they aren't known for their hockey career.

Americans have made progress with their development programs and have seen many talented players go high in the NHL draft. The Russians seem to have a style of teaching at the minor level that produces snipers who have all the skills and creativity anyone could want.Finland has a government funded program that is currently doing great work and they are producing fantastic goalies. But in the end I feel that what sets us Canadians apart is our team work and self-sacrifice.
