I really want to get a tattoo fo a crown of thorns on my lower back. But I already have a Hebrew word there. Also I have no idea how to make it work and look good. I want a rough, real look to it, and I also like the idea of having it look like it's in my skin. But again I have no idea how to make it look right. Any ideas or pics?

I would first do some online research and see if you find something that you really like or that is an "almost but not quite" idea. Or you can try a rough sketch. Once you have something go to different tat shops and look at photos of the artist's work and see what you think. Who knows, you might go a whole different route. A good tat artist can talk to you, look at your ideas and come up with something amazing. My husband had an old tat that he hated and his new tat covers it completely.

I never thought I would EVER get a tat but one day while going through some San Diego beach tat shops I found one I fell in love with and is now around my ankle. I'm designing one for my lower back now. Don't let the stupid jerks who call it a tramp stamp dissuade you. If you act like a tramp, its a tramp stamp. If you don't, it's a work of art that enhances your body and how you feel about it.

Good luck

The idea of the Crown of the Thorns is cool, but a lower back tattoo? Come on...... It seems cliche to have one. Tattoos are an expression of your self, so what would you be saying by giving in to the lower back tattoo craze.
The top of you back would be awesome though, those tattoos on women are beautiful if the right person does them and later on down the line when your like 50, you dont have to explain that isnt a bruise on your lower back , "It used to be a tattoo."

Definitley reconsider the position!!! And for a design like that shading always looks really good.I have a couple that are shaded and I get more comments on those then my solid colored ones.

Something with meaning huh? Well how can a load of strangers give you ideas that are meaningful to you? Only you can decide what is meaningful, to some people their butterfly tattoos are deeply meaningful, it's just not your taste, that's all. Sorry but this is something you have to research and decide for yourself.

Instead of a crown of thorns, you could just have a trail of realistic looking thorns framing either side of the hebrew word- you know, the way a lot of back tattoos are done now. It'll look really nice.

Go to your tattoo artist, tell him what you want. He will be the best person to personalize it for you. It will be easier because he will have you there and can customize something that will flow with the shape of your back.
Sounds nice, sen a pic when you get it done?

It sounds like you have your mind made up,
but tattoo's are not like a bad hair cut,
it is permanent so get some one really
experienced to do it for you.

Ask your favorite tattoo artist, you can cover up the Hebrew word or you can integrate it with the new tattoo. Ask the artist, that's why you're paying him

Maybe have it done with a dark red or black background - it will make the crown of thorns really pop - you can probably have the hebrew incorporated into it too.

Good luck!

Go to your artist and tell them what you want and show them your current tat. They can either cover it if you don't like it or intergrate the thorns to it. or around it or what not to make it look good.

too many tats look like a bruise from far away.

be careful. you may want to look sexy but you'll end up looking battered.
