Where can I find cheap stakes that go in the ground--they can be very slim, but need to be atleast 6 ft in height...couldn't find them on the home depot website....don't want to spend a lot of money....anyone know?

"Relatively cheap" because they last forever. Probably not what you had in mind but perhaps a future use. I use re-bar to make everlasting trellises or ones that can be removed by hanging them on cable eyes or big hooks. They can go into the ground and up through an eye on the eaves to support lateral growth or horizontally from eyes or hooks. They are very thin and nearly invisible when allowed to weather. Another possibility would be pieces of bamboo which I saw at a garden store or under $2. But I know not how long they would last in soil.

Rebar would be my first suggestion also.
You could use the metal fenceposts used for supporting that plastic mesh fence used for erosion control (check Home Depot). That's what I used to support my rose trellis.

If you have any woods near you, you can cut some small saplings down, they made great stakes and are free!!
