Well, from what I know, straight A's = a 4.0 GPA. However, for every AP/IB class you take you add 0.2 onto your GPA.
A=4.0
B=3.0
C=2.0
and so on.
The lowest you can get is obviously a 0.
and The highest is pretty open...generally it is about a 5.0, but I have heard some cases where it was higher

Another thing to add to those above. GPAs very from school to school. Some schools give additional points for honors classes or Advanced Placement classes. This is why you will see people with a GPA of 4.87 or something else. GPAs in college aren't really important because of grade inflation, but what is more important are what classes you take, what grades you get, and how those grades compare to other people in those classes. For example, I took AP English where the highest possible grade was a 93 on a paper, which is equivalent to a 3.7. However, because I was number one in my class, colleges looked at my lower GPA as more impressive than a candidate who had a 4.8 at a school that inflates grades. Just do your best and study hard. You'll do great!
Good Luck!

GPA is grade point average. The highest you can get is 4.0 which is equal to 100%. The lowest you can get is 0.1, which is 1% and means that the person didn't study and just didn't care.

GPA is Grade Point Average. For every class you get a letter grade, and those letters translate into numbers. A+ is 4.0, which is the highest, and I guess if you fail everuthing you can get a 0.0! 1.0-1.9 is D range. Aim for those 3-4's!

GPA = grade point average...
It is calculated as such...
Each class gives you a certain number of "credits" in high school I believe most all classes have the same number of credits...
Then each grade is assigned a point value...
Standard is:
4 = A, 3 = B, 2 = C, 1 = D, 0 = F
Then the calculation goes:
GPA = sum(number of credits*grade points)/sum(number of credits total)
A 4.0 is straight A's
A 0.0 is all F's...
Any mixture of grades can give you many GPA's in between

Depends what school you go to... 4.0 is highest and i guess 0 is the lowest. Different schools give different numbers for A's A-'s etc.
