According to BCA or VNEA (official) rules, a scratch on the break is not a loss, eight ball ont he break is neither a loss nor win depending on what the cue ball does, it is either the opponents or your option to decide to rerack and break or spot the eight.

In 9 ball, anything goes, so long as you hit the lowest numbered ball on the table first, even if you hit the object ball, bounces off two rails and a ball to make the nine in, you win. However, there is a version of 9 ball, Texas style i think, where you have to call the nine or else it is a loss.

Your best bet is to ask your opponent about the nine, but in real rules, it isn't necessary to call it.

There are differing rules, but according to league rules:
1. A scratch on the break is not an automatic loss. The opponent places the cue ball in the kitchen and may shoot at any ball regardless of what else went in on the break.
2. Should the 8-ball go in on the break, the breaker has the choice of spotting the 8-ball, and continuing with the other balls where they sit, or to rebreak. It is not an automatic win.
3. As long as you hit the target ball first in 9-ball, your turn continues as long as anything goes in. If it is the 9-ball, you win.
No need to call any shots in 9-ball.

no a scratch on the break is not a loss, yes, if you break and eight ball sink it is a win, no you don't have to call pockets for nine ball only when you reach the nine ball. it counts for question (3) you do get that ball and you shoot again even though you the target ball was the 3 ball, yes you would if it was the nine ball. You have to call shot for nine ball if it is not abvious.

1. No
2. Yes
3. Must Call all shots, kisses too. Technically speaking though as long as you hit the 3 first then whatever goes in after that is legit.
4. call the 9

i personally prefer to call all shots and eliminate all the BS shots or the spray and pray shots that most douchebags like to do
