come to find out, you actually didn't? That you were just bleeding during pregnancy?

Yes. I was told I'd had a miscarriage at 3 weeks, and went to the OB the next day to have an ultrasound to see if there was anything left in there that needed to be "scraped out." The first thing the technician said was "I seee...... A heartbeat!" The bleeding turned out to be from the maternal side of a placental tear, not from the fetal side at all. After 2 weeks of bed rest, I was okay.

My son is 9 years old now, and one terrific miracle!

i personally have not been told, but shame on the doctor that did tell a person this. that is aweful practice. bleeding during the first stage of pregnancy is normal because the fertilized egg is embedding itself into the womb, so a lot of times bleeding is normal.
the doctor should have drawn blood work to see if the prenancy hormone was low or rising (low would mean a miscarriage). also in an ultrasound you would be able to see the fetus detaching itself from the placenta.
if you know of someone who this was told to.... i would switch doctors, and ask him/her why he didn't perform other tests, and just assumed you were miscarrying because of the bleeding.

Yes. I bled a lot during my pregnancy. However, I ended up having to do six weeks of bed rest so I didn't lose the baby. Any bleeding is usually not a good sign. I hope you are seeing a dr.

My friend bled heavily and thought she had miscarried. She stopped getting her pre-natal care and then one day her boyfriend had his hand on her stomach and he told her he thought something felt like a little ball in her tummy. She thought she had the miscarried baby inside of her and that she hadn't passed the tissue, but it turns out the baby was still healthy and very much alive. She was so thankful, especially because after she though she'd miscarried she had some dental surgery and was on medicine for the pain, and she got drunk a couple of times. She was so scared she had harmed her baby. The baby turned out to be a beautiful little girl.

No. I miscarried 5 times and they were right each time. They don't just look at bleeding, there are other factors, such as the ultrasound or HCG levels failing to rise that indicate miscarriage.

I wasn't told I was having a miscarriage, I just didn't realize I was pregnant because of it. I bled for what I thought was my period for the first 3 months of my pregnancy.
