I just graduated High School and I am going to a Community College for a sememster, and then taking off 2 years for a religions mission. My problem is that I have never worked before and I don't have any experience, I don't even know where to begin looking for a job. Everyone I talk to tells me that I need a job. I don't want to get stuck working a Mcdonald or any fast food or grocery store. How do I find someone that will hire me when I have to leave after the fall semester?

Of course you should get a job because you need some sort of experience. Don't down McD's- because it will at least give you some business sense. Whatever you do there is no shame in it if you do your best and work hard. Grocery store, retail- anything is good. Remember that it is only temporary, and it will put some cash in your pocket! Here's your first religious mission- don't look down upon any job- next time you go into McDonalds, take a look at that 40 year old woman behind the counter whose husband just left her with three kids, or the 80 year old retired man who can't make ends meet on social security. Think about it! :)

What are your interests?
Some of these jobs offer the same wages as McDonalds -- and sometimes if you ask, they'll create a job for you!

Maybe you can:

Intern at a TV station
Be a page for the Mayor
Work in the Community Theater
Be an usher at the Opera or Ballet
Be a PA on a movie

There are lot's of fun things to do when your only goal is to work!

Luck!

Start small. Jobs like Mc Donalds, In-n-Out, y'know fast food places are a great place to start. And if you are going to school I am sure you wont get stuck. YOu dont want a job that demands to much of you time and energy, save that for school. These jobs are great because your employers are usually flexable and really cool. Think about it.

dont worry about getting a job
just tell everyone that you want to focus on your school work and its not worth getting a job for a semester - if you really need one try your college bookstore they would hire you just for a semester!

Go to a place that is something you are interested in. Ask for an application.

Also search for internships in your area.
