What kinds are you looking for? The Queen's is SW1A 1AA. As someone said, the London postcodes, created in 1856-7, refer to the points of the compass, but there is no S for south or NE for northeast. Glasgow was the first city outside London to adopt post codes (starting with G) in 1923. If you contact me I can email you an information sheet about the history of British post codes.

Post codes are great in the UK as they are really descriptive eg EC1 xxx means that the address is in the east of the city, and SW17 xxx means the address is in the south west. You can actually locate an address down to the street using the post code (but not down to the number of the house). They usually have two letters, a number, a space, another number and then another two letters eg E1 1AB.

Manchester post codes start with M
Birmingham - B
Leeds - LS
London's a directional so if you live in South West/South East London your post code will be SW or SE

we dont use zip codes in the uk, we use post codes

It is called post-codes, which also depends on where you live. For instance if you live in Victoria, it would be SW1V 1EJ.
