Ive already tried to go into preferences,>alerts & sounds,>then I try to apply the chime sound that comes on the computer, & its still not working.

That way if your getting a sandwich and not on the computer at the moment they make a noise so you'll know when you recieved a IM.

It's to let you know that you have a new message. I think that the new computers are doing what they want. I tried the same thing with the chimes and it didn't work on mine either.

In your messenger properties there will be a check box to disable it. Or just go to the Yahoo Messenger folder in Programs and delete the *sound*.wav file.

Maybe because of your pop up blocker? That happens to me, but I don't use Yahoo IM.

i have the same problem too...i think Yahoo Messenger 8.0 is quite unstable. more people prefer the 7.5 version
