How would I know? If it were an opinion, it might have been one of those tendencies of that time to see what could be used or not. I even read about some hilarious articles that they tried to use human urine as bath water. Maybe this guy was just thinking, what could a cow's udder have that makes it so full and how will it be useful to him. Other than that, I couldn't think of anything else. It might have been a child who discovered it accidentally. Who knows?

Since Adam and Eve observe animals feeding their young even before they themselves had their first one, it wasn't much of a discovery. Choosing to drink the milk from an animal may have been the result of a mother not being able to produce enough milk for her child, or she had triplets and couldn't produce enough milk for all of them. Goats were milked long before cows and are still the primary supplier of milk in much of the world.

A guy was probably very hungry and saw the little cows nursing off it, just as babies nurse from women. The guy probably first tried to get milk from a woman and when she beat the living crap out of him, he decided to take the matter up with a cow...

I'm guessing they saw a calf nursing, and drew a correlation between a nursing human and the cow.
Now, why they thought they should DRINK it, that's another question...

they didnt think they knew just as all people knew how to do so many other jobs...dont think it took long for man to learn.
