I am 25 & married and everytime I go to the gyn. I am to embarassed to ask this question......Every month when I have my period I use tampons and whenever I change the tampon, there is only blood on the right side of the tampon. Does anyone else have this, and is this "normal". My period is extremely heavy so i don't quite understand why only the right side has blood on it. The blood never seems to be "red" either, it's more like a brownish color Also, it may be of some help for you to know that I have severe Polycystic ovaries. Could this be contributing to this? Thank you all for your help!!

I don't have any condition with my ovaries, but i have the same thing you do. It will not always be on the entire thing. I have 3 sisters, so we talk about this stuff. You are perfectly normal.

And the color is okay too, that may change all the time, sometimes, dark, sometimes, brown, sometimes, bright red. So don't worry.

Good Luck .

If only one side is covered in blood then you arent using the right absorbancy. Your period may not be as heavy as you think it is. Try using a different brand or a different flow. Instead of using the super obsorbancy try using the flow below it. Maybe you should try wearing a pad for a couple days because using the wrong absorbancy tampon can cause pain when changing it. Maybe you should just go ahead and ask your gyn. they may be able to tell you what to do or help you out better. dont be embarrassed, they get asked questions about periods, stds and other stuff on a daily basis, its what they are trained to do.

It's fine. I get the same thing. It's "physics". Once a part of the tampon begins to absorb, it will wick along that side. Also, if it's the first one you've used that day, there is already a "preference" as to how the fluid seeps into the vagina, so there is already fluid sticking to just one side. So when you insert the tampon, it absorbs on that side first and then continues to wick along that side for the duration...
Not to mention the fact that most tampons are manufactured as a flat piece of fluff, stitched down the middle to hold it together and attach the cord, and then folded in half along the seam...

I have wondered this myself, and gave the subject a lot of thought. If that sounds weird, just ask people how often they sit down on the john and wonder why their urine stream doesn't go straight down...

brown = dead and clotted blood, so not to worry

blood on one side of the tampon isn't really a medical symptom of disease, so just relax, you're fine.

I wouldnt count that out as a possibility. Have you had a recent check up? Cyst do rupture and could contain dark brown blood
