and yet, when they need money or help, we are the first ones they want it from. If we do help, it wasn't enough, or it wasn't good enough, or it wasn't fast enough. If we don't get involved, they think we don't care---if we do get involved, they think we are meddling and trying to control the whole world. Who thinks we should take care of our own country first, and then if anything is left, we can help the others who probably won't appreciate it anyway?

I totally agree with you... I think the World holds us to a standard they do not hold anyone else to... I, for one, am sick of it. When I was traveling abroad many acted like I should be ashamed to be an American. Some people even told me to lie and say I was Canadian... I didn't. I am proud to be an American.

We should examine why nearly all the countries hate America before we understand why the term "The ugly American" was not invented yesterday.

The first question I will ask is "Did anybody know that the Americans companies were profiting of World War II by supplying Germany with the tools they needed to create the art of war called Blitzkrieg? Yes, that's' right. These companies were gaining huge profits from their businesses in Germany. The average worker in Germany (Nazi if you will) were having their wages dropped while the American companies were racking up the profits. Before Hitler, they were not doing very well, but with Hitler in charge they loved him. Probably this is why no one wanted to notice the Holocaust going on there at the time. Or were blinded by it. Only after the declaration of war did this stop. And no, FDRs' lend and lease did nothing to really help during the time America was watching on the sidelines.

So that is one example that happen in the past. How about today? How about the war in Iraq? Where did this come from? Why was this not done during the first time when they invaded Kuwait (when they even had the support of other Arab countries)? Was Sadamm not as bad then as in the second time we attacked him?

Why did the US not listen to the UN at this time as opposed to the Isreal Lebanon war? Was it because they only listen when its suits them? About money: Where are the dues that US owes to the UN? To understand this, go to the web site: http://www.newamericancentury.org/index.... If these gentlemen have their way, the Middle East will be reshaped to their liking with them also profiting on it (sounds like what happen in the second World War eh?).

Now you tell me: How would you like it if China said we are gonna reshape North America to our way of thinking? People call this arrogance. This also creates hate.

The United States of America has always tried to stand for justice and fairness thoughout its' history. In truth, it is not the people of this country other nations hate but the inability for this nation to practice what they preach. We cry human rights while enslaving blacks in the past (there still is discrimanation)as well as almost wiping out the natives. We will welcome you with open arms just as long as you are either cheap labour or can buy your way in.

This is just the tip of the ice berg. Maybe it is time to step back, take care of our own, stop the bleeding of the jobs overseas and to beef up again because I think that it going to get nasty before it gets better.

SENDING AID TO LEBANON, AT THE SAME TIME SENDING ARMS TO ISRAEL TO BOMB RESIDENTIAL BUILDING WHERE THE AID WAD SENT TO INNOCENT CITIZENS. HEIGHT OF PARADOX.
First and foremost if God has bestowed the US with wealth and other means which has put it in a positon to help other countries (which is appreciated), it does not mean on the other hand u have licence to kill people. Look what's going on in Iraq, Afghanistan, innocent citizents are being butchered in the name democracy and freedom. Beacuse of US wrong foreign policies both the countries have been pushed to civil war. Even the US and and UK media has admitted that the recent air terror alert was all farce. No hard evidence has yet been produced to substantiate the whole drame. Raise terror abroad, gain advantage at home by making people believe that your president/PM is doing all the best to protect u. Wish the US had continued with the aid work and would have been the most priased nation it was a few centuries ago.

Having an isolationist attitude is what made the English Empire so successful and powerful in the 19th-early 20th centuries. However, it also nearly brought about the country's demise in WWII. The best answer to this question would be for America to keep trying to do what we feel is right and just, and to let the annals of history sort it out down the road.

I could care less about the other countries and their opinions of America. As far as America getting involved with things and meddling, I believe that to be 110% true. I have only seen ONE case (maybe two) where the US needed to become involved in military action. I don't support patriotism; I think it's bullsh*t. I don't think we should worry about anyone else but us and the same applies to the hundreds of other countries.
Oh, and this war on terrorism...yeah, it's a facade. It's all fabricated and controlled to keep people scared. F*ck that.

I do wish we would take care of our own country first, but because of our involvement with the UN, we have to become involved with other countries' problems.

Frankly, it doesn't make me angry, it just makes me sad that some people are willing to judge a whole group based on a few people's actions. No matter what race, nationality, sexual orientation, or religious belief you are...it shouldn't be done at all.

America the brutal, America the hypocrite, America the implacable ideological or religious foe.

America is hated because of what it represents, and not what it doesn't do.. but what it does. America is a big brother.. always sticking it's nose in other people's business.. Americans in general are roughnecks, they're violent, uneducated.. brutal..

America says "'Look, I have the power to push a few buttons and wipe out another country— I'm still boss"

I'm a Canadian, and generally, America and Canada get along.. but there is a reason that Canadians are loved and Americans are hated....Canada tries to help.. we're in Iraq trying to clean up the mess that the Americans left behind.. Canadians don't interfere with other cultures... we try to help those other cultures.
Americans try to shove America down other people's throats.. and people are getting tired of it.

As one of the wealthiest countries on earth, we have an obligation to help those who are less fortunate. This is not some idealist principle, but sound economic practice. The faster the rest of the world becomes industrialized, the more secure our economy will be.

i agree with u as i have always said that, i am so sick of people complaining about this country that were born here, yet they do nothing to help improve it---and i am so sick of people coming to this country and talking smack.
as soon as there is some trouble in their country or there's no work, where do they run? to AMERICA
i do think we should help where we can, but i do believe we should put more effort into bettering our own country before we try to help or tell other countries how they should live
