Any person that can legally own a Title I firearm (includes rifles, pistols, and shotguns) can own a Title II firearm, which includes full auto weapons (MG), short barreled shotguns and rifles (SBR/S), Any Other Weapons (pen guns, cane canes, etc.)(AOW) and silencers. The National Firearms Act of 1934 created the class of weapons known as Title II weapons, and a FBI background check and registration of the weapon with the BATFE, and most importantly, a tax paid on transfer of the weapon. The tax on MG, silencers and SBR/S is $200; the tax on a AOW is $5. The tax is paid upon filing the transfer, which is called ATF Form 4, or Tax Paid Transfer and Registration. This is a one-time tax, and does not require renewal; it is paid on transfer of the weapon only. The form requires a Chief Law Enforcement (CLEO)sign-off: The Chief of Police or Sheriff of your area must sign the form, attesting to your clean record and his knowledge of your character. The CLEO sign-off is for some the most difficult part of the application process, since many CLEO's refuse to sign. A duplicate set of fingerprints and passport photo, and certificate of USA citizenship, must accompany the initial application. The ATF approval process can be tiresome, since the process can take anywhere from a couple of months, to over a year, for approval. This is a VERY expensive decision, since the price of machine guns continues to rise: the least expensive full auto weapon that you can buy starts at $3000, and most cost over $10,000. Most dealers that sell full auto weapons (so called Class III dealers) require payment in full up front for the weapon and $200 tax. That means that you have a considerable amount of money tied up for a long time, waiting on the approval from ATF, which must be received before the weapon can be transferred to you. I would suggest that you attend one of the many machine gun shoots that are held throughout the year across the country. At most shoots, you can rent a machine gun to shoot for a reasonable amount; they will supervise you and teach you safe operating, which is always the most important thing to us all. Afterward, you will have a much more informed decision to make regarding machine gun ownership.

Yes, by paying the proper taxes and filling out the ATF form 4 you can own a machine gun as long as your legally able to own anyother kind of gun.

NO TRAINING is required. NO Classes are required.
But if your smart you will get someone with experiance to teach you proper safety. Like with any thing your not experianced with.

Many states have a licenseing process you can go through to get a machine gun, but they are very expensive and require extensive training and special facilities to be able to use. Check with your local police department to find out about the legality of possessing such a weapon and they may also be able to direct you to a reputatable dealer who can both sell you the weapon and provide the neccessary training to use it properly.

There is a weapons permit you can get that allows you to posses a automatic rifle. It's hard to get though.... they do an extensive background check. I recommend Bushmaster rifles. They make great semi-auto AR-15's and such.

easy, you apply to the ATF, pay a $200 tax.
wait for the background check to be done and approved.
