There is no magic bullit to losing weight. It is very simple. You must burn more fuel than you take in. The most effective long term and user friendly plan I have ever known is weight watchers. They have a point system in place now that allows you to eat really any food you want and not feel deprived while still losing weight. I have a friend that has tried everything and she has finally lost 50 lbs in a very short time. Working out will increase your results since you are burning fat and also increasing your metabolism. Weight training will add muscle to your body which makes your body burn more fuel no matter what you are doing. Muscle weighs more than fat so you can weigh more and look better than someone who weighs the same but is composed mostly of fat. You also do not want to lose weight without exercising because your body will be flabby all over. Also, if you are extrememly overweight there is no cure to the excessive skin that hangs after the fat is gone. No exercise will cure that, it will take cosmetic surgery to get rid of the extra skin. Losing weight permanently is a lifestyle change period. I have been there and done that. I have kept my weight off for years. I did it by cutting out junk, eating healthy and sometimes of course having what ever I want just so I would not feel deprived. The program I used is BODY FOR LIFE. It is not easy to adhere to but you get awesome results quickly, but it really takes discipline and a love of working out. One diet you must not do is Adkins or anyother high protein low carb diet. You will lose weight while you are on this but 100% of the time the weight always comes back once you begin eating normally. You can't go your whole life not eating carbs. Once again weight loss if a lifestyle change, so this has got to be permanent if you want the results to be permanent.

Now this is from a guys persepective, so I dont know how relevant it will be for you. I'm an athlete and I lost quite a bit of weight doing these things.

1) Dont eliminate carbs. Carbs supply you with life. Without carbs, your brain rots and your liver cant filter out things. But unless the vanity is worth it...

2) Drink water... and lots of it. Dont drink anything else. I used to drink a lot of soda and milk. I'll still have a beer now and again, but besides that, all I drink is water.

3) Before you eat anything, look at how much calories are in it. Set a goal for calories. Depending on your weights, and height, 2000 calories may be less than what is required to maintain weight. I currently weigh 177lbs (mostly muscle now Ill get into that next) and my maintaining calories is 2400 I believe so anything less and i am loosing weight.

4) Exercise. Bike riding, or even a team sport of some kind. When you do it, purchase a sauna belt to wear around your midriff. Its hot, its uncomfortable but it does work.

Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, feel free to message me.

While trying to lose weight a lot of people get discouraged after the first few days, they do good then get in a slump cause they want to see results faster. If you are really overweight, you will shed the pounds fast eating right and cutting back on unnecessary calories. However you'll hit a plateau and you'll need to encorporate some physical activity, (other than just sex), to get the rest of the weight off to reach your goal. Try to keep in mind that you didn't gain this weight over night, or just a few weeks, so you can't expect it to go away in just a few weeks, it takes time. Don't be afraid or embarassed at the gym, no one cares about you being there, no one is staring at you thinking you're a fool...if anything they commend you for doing something about the weightloss instead of sitting at home eating a pint of ice cream feeling sorry for yourself. Keep at it...you have nowhere to go but down in weight - the choice is yours. good luck!

I have always had a very bad time of loosing weight due to a basically non exsistance metabolism due to seizure medicines, my doctory put me on phenterimine and I have lost to date 40.6 lbs since april 14. this drug is the first half of phen-phen that was taken off the market several years ago, it only reappear recently with out the second pill, they took it off the market because of side effects from the second pill which it was only in the part to curve nausea (i believe) so basically if you start the med and get side effects they adjust the mgs. But also you must stay with eating all your food groups, spec carbs, carbs supply you with energy (yes turns to fat if you don't burn it off so you must also keep active) drink lots of water, and although the drug is a drug that causes you to loose your appetite some eat small meals throughout the day and you won't be missing meals ect. it was a last resort for me and i love it, it's not addictive and coming from 296 to 250 in 4 months i love but most has been in my upper body gone from size 24-26 to 14-16 but just one pants size 24 to a 22 so i've been doing extra crunches which i'm hoping will help

Do not diet! Simply go to the grocery store and buy only healthy items! Avoid all white sauces (at least in moderation), no sugared soda (if you stop you will lose up to five pounds this year), and have a broth based soup like chicken soup, before dinner (it makes you eat less during the meal). Dieting has too many restrictions to lose weight, eat healthy thats it. If you do mess up, remember that your metabolism will be revved up the next day so its a great day to start eating healthy again (it will burn more calories). Sundays are a free day eat whatever you have been craving all week. And eat fast food only once a month. Good luck!

Motivation comes from within. So you must decide how important this is to you & then write down what you want.....like how many lbs or what size clothes you want to get into. Maybe buy a really hot pair of jeans or something special you want to get into & hang it in plain sight to give you daily incentive. Then set goals, write out an eating plan, best to eat several small meals a day & include lots of fruit & veges if poss, also the best thing to include is high fiber like Flax Seed or Flax Seed Oil in your diet. This will help move the fat out of your system faster by working on your digestive tract. Hope this helps.

Do not cut carbs

Do not fear food

Do not eat "fast food" of any kind - it isn't really food.

HERE ARE THE BASICS:

1. you lose weight by consuming fewer Calories than you burn
2. you gain weight by consuming more Calories than you burn.
3. you should be concerned with losing FAT, not weight. There are 3500 Calories/Lbs of fat. To lost one pound of fat/week you have to burn 3500 Calories/week more than you consumed. there are 2500 Calories in a pound of muscle.
4. You should be more concerned with your percent body fat, not your weight.
5. the best, most effective way or burning fat is by combining weight-training and cardio exercise. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism will be. You will burn more calories all day long, including while you sleep. A health body fat percentage for males is 7-18%, females 18-24% (approximate numbers).
6. you should eat 6-8 small meals each day - this will prevent you from eating 3 large meal which will slow your metabolism while your body works to digest the large quantity of food.

As a general rule of thumb, you should be weight-training 3-4 times per week and performing cardio 3-5 times per week.

Consider hiring a personal trainer (ISSA certified) and a nutritionist. The money spent on these services is worth more than spending money on pills and potions.
