Good point. But If there is one thing is Americans don't do it is act as a team to reach a common goal unless it has to do with blowing something up.

We need something here......I certainly don't pretend to know the answer. I am not that familiar with Canada's health coverage.
I do know that over half of the people that live in the U.S. DO NOT have health insurance.
The cost of our health insurance is too much for the regular every day person to afford. Our prescription coverage is not good at all. People should not have to decide to get medication or buy groceries.
I wish I had the answer and so does everyone else that has to go without............Maybe our next presidential candidates are working on it. It would certainly get them elected, no matter what party they belonged to. I continue to say that if I know that, they must know that too. Come up with a medical plan for everyone and you will be the next president of the U.S.

universal health care is the worst idea to happen in the western world ever
sure everyone gets coverage up there, but as far as quality, canada has one of the worst health care systems in the industrialized world. The best canadian students come to the US to study and practice medicine, because as bad as it may be in the US, it's a joke to be a doctor in canada.
ALSO, the canadian supreme court has now allowed private insurance companies to compete with the government, which will invariably undermine the entire health care system and lead to its inevitable privatization.
Even now, if you have private insurance, you're seen and treated before people with the government insurance.
Sorry, I don't want to wait 6 months to get my tumor removed, i'd like to have it removed now thanks.

I don't understand why we don't have universal health coverage in the US either. If the US can give millions of dollars to other countries, why can't they take care of their own.

I am not sure if I would want the government running my health care, its bad enough that HMOs are such tight wads. Imagine the government? I am happy with the system as it is. I have PPO.

Probably because we don't want to wait hours and hours for visits...and to have doctors that are the tops in their fields. France has socialized healthcare, and I have a friend who's kid broke his arm while there and he had to wait 3 days to get it looked at. That's crazy.
