Because they're threatened by your desire to succeed. The farther you can get ahead, the more they're reminded they didn't finish high school or could not get the job they wanted.
It's not just you though. White kids really pick on others who like to read or learn. "Nerd" isn't really a compliment if it's the only name people call you every day you're in school.
It's human nature for less intelligent people to be scared by those with more smarts or education. Consider it a compliment. They wouldn't be giving you a hard time if you weren't obviously so much smarter.
Ignore them. In a few years you'll be heading off to college, a good job, and a wonderful secure life. They'll still be at Mcdonald's flipping burgers, living in a ratty apartment, and unable to keep a girlfriend/boyfriend around.

We are afraid of the unknown and people who are different. I understand exactly how you feel My life has been the same. I thinks its the same with every culture if you dont act like the majority you must be a sell-out. Take white people who"talk black" for example they are considered fakes and wiggers I think there is no particular way any person should behave regardless to skin color. We are all human and we make the decisions that determine the person we'll become.
On the other side of this discussion there are fair skinned black people who feel the need to be extremly pro black to prove their "blackness" Its all just stupid, you are who you are!

It is a very sad state of affairs....all too often, I see a pride in ignorance and stupidity in many young kids...not just black, green, purple..but all colors. It may be "cool" to be stupid, but it certainly has a very limited future. These kids hit a wall when they go look for a job, cannot understand why they will not be hired. Pay them no mind..keep your eye on the ball, and you WILL have a future. IN time, there will be a HS reunion. Those that CAN afford to come will be your peers. The others can swap stories about the latest and greatest opportunities at McDonalds. Good luck.

I can kinda relate. I am the most intelligent child on my moms side and her family always called me "white girl." I never use slang, got good grades and just because of the way I sound talking on the phone. I usually just ignore them and take it as a compliment. I will never seem stupid not even to please my own race or family.

There is a small but vocal part of your community that like to play the victim. To act oppressed is almost looked upon as wisdom by some. My neighbor is the blackest man I have ever seen and he is very driven and successful, the most well of in our neighborhood I would suspect. crying foul is just not justified any more.
Forgive me for giving my white opinion.

My wife went through exactly the same thing. While I don't know why, I can only hazard a guess by suggesting "street culture". I can't understand what the problem is with being smart...of any ethnicity.

Some people are just so insecure that they just can't accept that someone is more beautiful, more talented and more intelligent than them.
Dont waste your time on people who puts you down, you're way better than them thats why they are doing that to you.
Dont generalize. It is the uneducated and insecure people who does things like that

some people just want to bring others down with them. they see others doing better than them so instead if making goals and bettering themselves they try to destroy someone elses life.
its sad because people should be who they are not what race they are. i hear lots of people referring to certain things by the race of people that do those things and i say no all people go to museums or whatever the issue is.

They are just jealous of your intelligence and wished they had half your IQ score. Don't let them bother you...you can make a difference with your mind while they can only wish they could. Just feel sorry for them and move on! good luck

intelligence is not restricted to 'whites'.........being dark is not a sin......in fact it is a gift......it is scientifically proved that dark people are more strong and resistant to illness.........racism has made dark people less confident .....it is already time they come out of their shell and start believing in them selves......nobody is inferior in this world......the solution to this problem is understanding that the colour of the skin has nothing to do with the intelligence of the person......and people who are dark must not pay heed to such racist discrimination and must refrain from developing inferiority complexes.......
