H2O2 will oxydize the iron similarly as if you leave a piece of iron in a glass of water, but H2O2 is a stronger oxydizing agent.

I assume you mean "residues" in your question. If that's the case, then the peroxide can form free radicals which can react with the iron in solution (perhaps) changing it from Fe(II) to Fe(III).
