How about a Tachicardia?
My wife has that and it got worse with her first and second pregnancies. It has something to do with the electrical systems of the heart going wacky for a second. Apparently, an electrical node will decide it wants to help regulate heart beat. Once it realizes that isn't really its job, it will stop. A doctor gave her some medicine she took while pregnant that pretty much stopped it.

You pretty much answered your own question.
I had that while pregnant with my son...not only lying down but sitting and standing as well...i had pre-eclampsya...and my son was delivered at 32 weeks 5 days.
It is due to the hypertension the symptoms you are feeling. I did not have high blood pressure until about where you are or a little later.
I'm not saying that this is exactly what's happening to you...it's just an option.
Doctors are the professionals though...so wait to see what they tell you.
But it CAN lead to pre-mature delivery so please be cautious and take it easy.
If you start to see what looks like fireflies dancing in front of your eyes, call your doctor immediately because that was a symptom that I was having the couple of weeks before my son was born.
Hope this helps!!
Good luck with the little one! They're so precious and worth all this turmoil.

Hypertension IS high blood pressure. When you return to the doctor, get clarifiction on the diagnosis. When we are pregnant, and especially if we have a diagnois that accompanies our pregnancy, we are hypersensitive to our bodies. You may also be suffering anxiety about your pregnancy. Try to learn some relaxation techniques. Deep breathing, etc. There are also pregnancy yoga classes you can take if your doctor approves. In the meantime, take it easy. Try elevating your head while in bed.
Good luck with your pregnancy. You have my prayers for a healthy baby.

Around 25 weeks of pregnancy your blood volume increases to almost full capacity for the rest of the pregnancy. The baby is getting bigger and yes your heart is working harder to pump all the extra blood and fluids. You probably notice it more at night because you are resting and more in focus with your body. Also lay on your left side so you are not compressing the major artery that supplies blood to your lower half of your body. If your symptoms continues to get worse than just make an appointment sooner than your regular check up.

try to elivate the head of your bed to at least 45 degrees. try drinking plenty of fluids and when the palipations (heart flutters) start then take a deep breath. it also wouldnt hurt to keep a blood pressure journal, just take your blood pressure with a wrist cuff or a home machine at the same time every day. normal bp is 120/80. if the top number is over 160 or the bottom number is over110 then see your doctor immedeatly. hope it helps

High Blood pressure brought on by the hypertension has started. Take it very easy for your own good and the good of your baby. Point it out at the next visit. They may start some meds to insure your baby makes it as close to the due date as possible. Keep a close eye on yourself and only do what you feel like doing. You'll both be fine if you just take care of yourself.

Slight irregular heart beat is normal with pregnant women. It some times feels like your heart skips a beat and goes "Thud".
It is normal to have this happen through out your day, maybe 20 to 30 times is safe. If your heart is doing it constantly and is causing you some discomfort you should go to emergency. It will return to normal soon after you give birth.

I had the same thing happen to me...though I do not have complications. It might be due to the fact that you are pumping 50% more blood than normal.
Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

Have you tried drinking some water when that happens. Also lying down on a full stomach can cause that to happen.
