I don't think there are any bands from the 90s up til the present that future generations will consider "Beatles" or "Rolling Stones" like-quality. Instead, they'll hear tunes that will sound slightly outdated and they may like some, like Boyz 2 Men, or make fun of Vanilla Ice, or consider music from Michael Jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston. The voices from the 90s and some songs from the 90s are quite good. The beats aren't annoying. There were no rappers talking about their money, or plasma screens, etc. I FIRMLY believe that singing needs to come back again. Not rap, or hip hop, but real R&B with guts and soul so society can feel the music, not judge it.

I also wonder the same thing. I think Nickleback, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Our Lady Peace, Audioslave, Foofighters... would all be good nominees.

its a little depressing as i am not a fan of these bands, but i think these groups will be remembered:

U2
Nirvana
Smashing Pumpkins
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Pearl Jam

and i hope people remember Phish.

my musical taste pretty much revolves around bands that were in their prime before i was born (beatles, yes, grateful dead, jethro tull, etc). i've spent a long time wallowing in the fact that i was born in the wrong era, but i'm over it! the 60s & 70s were the best years of rock, and that's that.

Even though I am not a fan, I would say Green Day is definitly one that will stick with people.

But most other music is just a fad that is popular for the time being, until something bigger and better comes out.

Nirvana, Metallica, TOOL, Pantera, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam,
there are so many....
I think they will look back on our music the same way we look back on Floyd, Zepplin, Ozzy and Skynard and find just as many legends as we do...
