I just bought a multicolor speedy 30 Louis Vuitton from a lady who runs a buisness buying them and selling them. (It's legal and everything, we checked with the store) and anyways, I got mine for 450 dollars, which came with the dustbag, tags, and plastic covering and all that. It also came with the reciept from a Louis Vuitton store in Montreal for the orginal price of 1725 dollars, but I'm still not entirely sure its real...people are making fakes pretty convincing now. Is there some way I can tell for sure?

oh yeah you can. the easiest thing to do, would be to take it in to a louis vuitton store and ask if its real. but, if you want to do it at home, then i know exactlaly what to do. go on the website maybe and look at theres vs. yours. look at the straps, if theyre really light, then its probably real. over time, it will change color. second, look at all the markings. are they all there? like louis vuitton written on the side little flap that hangs over? and all the zippers, do they have an lv on it? also, look on the inside for louis vuitton made in paris. hope its real, because i hate people who have fakes. lol

It's a card with a light gray background, with the brand name written in uppercase at the top of the card, followed by the words 'controllato' written in lower case, and the numbers '1234567890'. While it is not an entirely foolproof way to ensure the authenticity of your Gucci handbag, some makers of fake bags can miss out on it.

Check the Quality of the Dust Cover

The bag should come in a Gucci box, accompanied by a heavy duty dust cover of reliable quality.

Your bag should have a stamp embossed on the inside and LV should be marked on the metal around the straps and on the zipper pulls. You should also get a card witht he bag stating the serial number and date.

And also, if you have bought an LV and are not sure, usually the handle is a giveaway. If it looks to 'pasticky' its fake. If the 'LOUIS VUITTON PARIS' imprints are not clear cut, its probably fake. The cowhides on real LV are usually softer and feel like real cow hide, not some cheap imitation plastic.

Real LV's come with authenticity cards. These are of the higest quality and are not on thin paper. The dust bag does not have LV insignia on it, it should just be good old plain brown as far as i believe, though they may have changed that.

The first sign you can tell is fake is when the handles break off. It will be too late by then. However the BEST way to compare, is to go into a real LV store and have a feel for what is real. Usually the small discrepancies such as the shape of the nuts and bolts differentiate real from fake as well.

Check the inside of the bag for quality sewing, compare it to one at a reputiable department store. Also, there should be a certificate of authenticity that is numbered. Isnt Canadian money different from US dollars anyway? So 1725 canadian may equal 450 american. Anyway....pple spend WAY too much for a purse that will be out of style in a month and that is copied so well that no one can tell the differnce anyway. I carry a plastic shopping bag for a purse.

Take your bag to a vendor who does sell real Vuitton items and ask there. If the bag turns out to be counterfeit, you could tell the Vuitton vendor about the person who is selling these gently-used bags.It sounds like the business you went to is legitimate;gently used bags will be sold at a steep discount because they have been used before the sale.

Its probably not real. People are getting really good at making fake bags that it is hard for any one to tell the it is fake.
In high school, when I was in my phase were I could only wear name brand clothing such as Tommy Hilfiger. I bought a pair of fake shorts that appeared to be the real deal. T. H and something else, was stitched on the outside leg, but after i bought them and looked at the tag on the inside, it said xhilartion which is sold at Target. I was pretty mad, but I only paid like 15-20 for the shorts.

I would find a licensed Louis Vuitton store near you and take it to have them check it out. That is probably your best bet. If it isn't real I would contact the person who sold it to you and then expose her for selling fakes. Why would someone pay 1725 for a purse and sell it for such a small amount. That is 1275 cheaper than what she said she got it for. I would question that. But if you feel ok with it then that is up to you to do.

a)there should be a serial number
and to make sure its real bring it to a LV store and ask them to check it (if its fake then its kinda embarrassing)
b) even if it is used or old you can still smell the inside and get the "real leather" scent
c) the print should be adjacent and exactly the same. (i.e. the LV logo is in a straight lines, or 4 LV one very line then 4 on the next, and the LV logo isnt upside down on the other side, the multicolor is lets say pink on the left side and it should be the same color on the end )

i was watching this show and they said that only real louis vuitton bags, when scratched with something sharp like a key dont tear well

but i wouldnt try, just anytime the bag has a big tear in it, it is probably fake
