No. They are recalling 4.1 million batteries, not the laptops. Dell will ship a replacement battery to anyone affected. Until the new battery arrives customers are advised to stop using the batteries they have and operate solely off AC power until the replacement battery is sent. The faulty batteries were produced by Sony who Dell is now blaming for the problem.

I heard this on the radio this morning.
Aparently there is a fault with the batteries and they are recalling 4 million laptops. The problem can cause the battery to catch fire.

Re-read the article. It says SOME models of laptop BATTERIES MAY have a fault which MAY cause fires due to overheating. Keep the facts straight cut down on the dramatics.

it is just the batteries - you can contact dell and they will let you know if your battery is one of the ones being recalled. - if it is they will help you with what to do - sending back and getting a new one..

Maybe not explode but catch on fire. they recommend plugging them in and not using them on battery. I find it funny that the batteries were made by Sony, a competitor.
