Whether a man is masculine/femiline or gay/straight are two completely seperate issues. Most gays are masculine by the way. The ones that aren't are the ones the media likes to portray on TV and are the ones you would notice, all others appear no different than regular straight guys. Yes, some are feminine but then so are some straight guys. This is known as a gender identity disorder. Homosexuality is not a disorder. And homosexuality means both genders by the way as well not just men. So my thoughts would be stop believing in stupid stereotypes and see people for the individuals they are!

Homosexuality is most certainly not a mental illness. The debate is whether or not it is a choice or it is caused by genetics. It is almost definitely NOT a choice. And all gays don't act feminine. They just happen to like other men. Although I agree it sounds kind of weird or strange, it is the way God created them. It is understandable that people are hateful or confused about it, but in a few generations it will become more accepted and people will realize it wasn't so bad. People will look back and wonder why they were so critical and unaccepting of another one of God's creations and why they were oppressed for all of existence so far. And some people will probably go to Hell for it. But God forgives.

There is no relation. Homosexuality as a mental illness was removed from the DSM years ago.
Acting like a woman if you're a man isn't a mental illness either. Gender identity is forced upon a child according to societal stereotypes. It is only considered a problem if the child/adult has a problem coping with the conflicting gender identities.
Homosexuality isn't a mental illness.

Homosexuality once was considered a mental illness, but back in the '70s the American Medical Association decided to remove it from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Disorders (DSM-V). Scientific studies suggest that certain people may be genetically predisposed to be homosexual, but other scientists argue that same-sex relationships are contrary to our natural instinct for survival -- a colony of 500 men and 500 women, all of whom are homosexual, would die out because they wouldn't have sex with each other and bear children is the way the argument goes. In this day and age, the line between male and female behavior is so blurred that it's really hard to say what behaviors are truly male and which ones are truly female. Personally, I have nothing against homosexual men and women, as long as they're not in my face screaming "You HAVE to accept my lifestyle." Uh, no I don't if I don't want to.

In the first place, it is a minority of homosexual men who act like a woman. You have adopted a stereotype that really comes out of nowhere. The AMA, as well as the American Psychiatric Association and the American Psychological Association have all determined that homosexuality is not a mental illness.
Now, maybe knowing this, and still asking the question is a mental condition. Have you seen your shrink lately?

Homosexuality hasn't been considered a mental illness for well over 30 years. If you are listening to religious nuts or homophobes who believe it is you would be better served by getting a formal education.

Illness? WTF?
Listen, I'm gay because I find men attractive, not because I act like a woman. I like fishing, biking, sports and such just like any straight man.
To assume one is gay because he acts like a woman is stupid.
To assume being gay is a mental illness means you're probably still in high school dealing with your own form of homosexuality. Pinning who you are on an illness will not help you love yourself. It'll only make it easier to tell your friends and family, as I'm sure they will judge you as you have judged all other homosexuals.

There is a relation. Here it is: homosexuality is just one more way of loving, and those who cannot understand that... have a mental illness.

i am not sure mentaly is the right word you are looking for my friend but i can see where you are comming from,to some people the fact that anyone is not so called normal makes people believe they must be abnormal and therfore ill in some way..
I think genetic problems is the more likely answer and more fitting in todays society..
at the end of the day we all have choices, and decisions that we must live and die with ..just hope we make all the right choices and i beleave in a Live & Let Live society as long as they dont try to inforce their beliefs on you..
cheers

no, i don't think its a mental illness at all.
rather, i think it could be a genetic issue. men that want to be women (and vice versa) struggle their entire lives because they don't feel comfortable.
to me, it's very conveivable that conception is not perfect. i believe women who are supposed to be men are born as women, and the other way around. just like being gay, it's not a choice.
unless you have gone through it yourself, or know someone very close to you who has, its a really difficult thing to understand.
