I just got an HDTV, and it's great for my Xbox 360, but so far the PS2 games have looked much worse than on my old, non-HD TV. What type of cords should I use to get the best picture?

Component cables.

And, if the game supports progressive scan and 16:9, turn them on.

Here's a list of games with details on what they support,

Gran Tourismo 4 and Tourist Trophy support 1080i resolution. That will likely give you very good results on an HD set.

Other than that, there's no a lot that you can do. In addition to moving to a larger set, your TV is magnifying (upscaling) everything by at least 1.5x.

The Xbox 360 games support at least 720 resolution. So, they are obviously going to look better.

The difference between the two systems should pretty closely resemble the difference between watching ESPN and ESPN HD on your set.

PS2s are not meant for hd tvs since they were first made when there were no HD TVs...

I would just suggest using the ps2 on your older tv and save the xbox 360 for the hd.

Not sure if there is an S Video cable for the ps2.... you could try searching for one on EBay...

you will desire to be waiting to connect a composite device on your Insignia television. Please notice, notwithstanding, that some fashions now no longer comprise composite connections. i decide to propose checking the specs of your television to ascertain compatibility. you will discover the whole specs in the consumer instruction manual, downloadable from our internet site (see link). purely seek to your television variety selection and click on the help/Downloads tab. i'm hoping this helps.
