Personally, I think that most athletes are overpaid. Its ridiculous to see people getting 8 mil a year to play a sport. I think that it would be completely awesome to play in the majors or something like that but a lot of athletes these days are more concerned with the amount of money that they are making rather than playing a sport because they love the sport. It should be about the love of the game rather than being the highest paid athlete in a certain sport.

If people are willing to pay $50 for a ticket to a game, then the box offices will charge $50. Add up all the money a franchise makes in a year, and that's a lot of revenue. Should baseball players make $100,000 a year, that's too much profit going into the hands of the baseball team's owners.
Yea, their lives are so great for making so much money to play a game. But do you have any idea how much time and effort they put into getting where they are now? If baseball was so easy, why do the best players fail 7 out of 10 times (0.300 avg) to get a hit. Why can't you do it?
Higher paid players, are veterans who have played for awhile and have demonstrated consistency in the sport, which nets them a large contract wherein they inevitably go over-the-hill during the terms of the contract. They have earned their money.

There are those players out there (and teams for that matter) that get way overpayed. I'm not going to name any names or teams (the whole Yankees team), but you aren't likely to ever see a salary cap. They tried that way back in 1994 and look where it got them. There are those players that deserve to make more than others but the amount that some players make is ridiculous. I think the day you see it will be the day you see the Cubs vs. Royals in the World Series. It will never happen. I don't necessary agree with the "luxury tax" either, what hey.....my opinion doesn't matter. It's all up to the owners and the people with the money.

All pro sports athletes are over paid. Especially baseball players though. It is probably the least demanding of all the sports.

All athletes are over paid. but if your going to compare salaries of professional athletes from different sports then no they are not overpaid. Baseball players typically make more than any other sport but they deserve it simply because of the amount of games they play.

All professional athletes are overpaid. So are all the movie stars. But I don't know what we can do about it except stop paying attention to them.
